Founded by celebrated designer Sian Hughes Cooke, for over ten years her dedicated team has offered a bespoke service creating stunning bridal gowns and one-of-a-kind couture pieces for luxury clients and celebrities.

Whether fashioning romantic silhouettes or modern tailoring, each garment is personally designed by Sian to emulate timeless elegance whilst incorporating the clients’ individual style. About the Designer - Sian Hughes Cooke

From making her first dress at just eight years old, Sian Hughes Cooke has always maintained a strong interest in fashion and creative design. Pursuing her passion to degree level, Sian obtained her BA Hons in Fashion Design and Marketing.

Gaining experience with Concepts trend prediction in Paris prior to establishing herself as a coveted lingerie designer in New York, Sian has worked with internationally renowned brands including Calvin Klein and Victoria Secret.

Her work for the critically acclaimed $15 million Diamond and Ruby Millennium bra, worn at the fifth annual Victoria Secret fashion show, enabled Sian to excel artistically.

Her 30 years of professional design experience has taken her all over the world, across the fashion capitals including New York, London, Paris, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong working for House of Fraser, Couture Studio 183 and many other well known brands.

 

Sian’s expertise in feminine garments and structural corset design enabled an organic transition into the wedding industry as during preparations for her own marriage she was looking for an individual dress, one that would do justice to the significance of such a day. Sian decided to design her own couture wedding gown, through which Shimmering Ivory was established allowing her to continue to showcase her passion for bespoke design and fashion excellence.

As a female owned brand, Shimmering Ivory understands the modern bride’s desire for both elegant and contemporary gowns, as Sian’s expertise guarantees a bespoke service to create the dress of your dreams on time and on budget for your special day.

 

The Shimmering Ivory team comprises of  a number of fantastic  bridal-gown fashion designers and costume makers.  All are qualified and experienced in creating beautiful work.  The talents we can call on include fine embroidery, working with the most delicate fabrics like silk chiffon and lace, couture corsetry, and bespoke embellishment of your dream bridal dress.

“It was such a great experience working with Sian from beginning to end on creating my ideal wedding dress.  I had tried on so many dresses in shops and nothing felt quite 100% right and, for such a special day, I wanted a dress that felt special.  I took a few ideas to Sian and she started to sketch a dress for me and it just moved forward from there really including picking fabrics and putting together a mock dress to see exactly what shape suited me best.  It was amazing to have something at the end which, essentially, I had designed myself (with a huge amount of help from Sian of course!) and it meant that I didn’t have to compromise on anything, like is often the case with dresses off the hanger in a shop.  What I especially liked was Sian’s commitment to getting things just how I wanted – if there was something I wasn’t sure about Sian would keep brainstorming and working on ideas until we got everything just right – she was a real pleasure to work with in that respect and it never felt like I was under pressure to make decisions too quickly.  I would recommend working with her for anyone that would like an individual, beautiful dress that will be yours and no-one else’s!”

I feel so fortunate that I found Sian. She is stylish, creative and passionate about what she does. And a total delight to work with too. I was preparing for my winter wedding in Australia and had not seen any dresses I liked in the shops or on-line. Sian made me the most beautiful dress which was exceptionally well tailored.
